Home Garden - FORTHCOMING EVENT
Children visiting the Saxon Hall Community Centre in Hereford can make mud pies and much more in a fun educational garden space funded by the Prime Foundation.
The Centre is a focal point for the local area and is home to a Stay and Play group, holiday workshops, the Phoenix Bereavement service and the Autistic Society. The Centre applied to the Prime Foundation for funding to create a safe and educational outdoor space for its many young visitors to encourage outdoor play and a connection with nature. The finished ‘Home Garden’ features a mud kitchen and mud sand, a sensory table, water experiences and raised beds for planting, all within a dedicated, fenced off area.
Saxon Hall Centre Manager said: “Outdoor play is really important for the healthy growth and development of a child, as it promotes cognitive, physical, social and emotional wellbeing experiences. The Home Garden project inspires the children who visit our Centre to embrace outdoor play and explore the natural environment around them, while learning and having lots of fun.”
